In the book DIvergent, there are probably many lessons/themes that the author is trying to tell us but I think that there is the most important theme in Divergent. The theme that would fit Divergent in my opinion is that Not everyone can fit into a specific group. In the world of Divergent, places are divided into factions which has 1 side of personality such as Amity and Dauntless. I think that everyone has different personalities and have multiple of them so joining a faction that limits 1 is merely a cage which locks you from being yourself. Another reason is that the people grew up in the faction their parents are in and they develop in the factions which means when they change the factions, I think they probably still have a part of them in the specific faction they grew up in. Since the factions value their quality and disagree with others, its like everyone is allowed to have only 1 side of themselves. And lastly, I believe that it is impossible for anyone to have only 1 side and throw away everything else, and I’m talking about every single person here. I think that the idea to separate people in factions is a bad way and it is impossible to fit into a specific group and also, it is bad organization because even though the factions are separated, they still work together with hate for one another of foreign factions.
I like your supporting reasons. They are really good, but I think you should add the page number.
ReplyDeleteYour paragraph is good and contains good introduction and very clear theme. You also used many examples to show that the theme is actually valid. However, I think you should be improving on textual evidences with page numbers (direct quotes) and a little more on symbolism. Your ending is not really that clear but overall you did a good job representing your theme.
