Film Techniques for the Hunger Games by Tarush

The fictional movie The Hunger Games which is based on a book by Suzanne Collins uses filming techniques like camera movement, music and colour in various different ways to express the character's mood and/or emotion or the feeling for a setting. Camera Movements in the film is unstable showing confusion. The over the shoulder shot which was used when Katniss was talking to her mother showed her power over her mother. These camera angles show a perspective of a person for another person. The music in the movie is always suiting the scene like in the opening ceremony when the tributes entered the music was really loud and majestic. This helped us understand how people in the capital feel when they saw the tributes Colour played an important role in the reaping ceremon. We saw Effie in purple clothes and everyone else was wearing dull colors like blue and black. She was wearing nice looking clothes and others were wearing terrible and ripped clothes. Purple also symbolises power and Effie in district 12 symbolised the capitol which had the power.  These techniques help give power and a different point of view for each character and this also helps us understand the setting easily and better.
