Mue Hunger Games Film Techniques

The Hunger Games uses different film techniques such as different camera angles, sound effects, colors and music to create different moods, emotions, and meaning of the scene. There are many techniques for camera angles and camera movement, for example, over the shoulder camera angle gives the viewer the character’s point of view, camera angle looking up at a person shows the power that person has over others, and shaky camera shows the stress in the scene. Sound effects shows the emotion during a scene, for example, when Prim’s name is called, the music suddenly stops to create emotions, and when Katniss is hunting, there is also no music to create emotions. Musics make the scene more or less tense, as different scene in the same movie can have different music. Sad music is usually used in sad scene to make the viewer have a sad emotion. Color gives the person’s status. In the movie, Effie is wearing brightly colored dress, while the people of District 12 is wearing dull colored, which shows that Effie is more powerful and wealthier than other people in District 12. Therefore, using the right techniques are crucial in making the viewer have the right emotion for the scene, as you would not want a happy music at a sad scene, or having a shaky camera for a calm scene. People might not want to watch movies where all the emotions are totally different from the scene.

  1. I like that your paragraph is really detailed, especially on the examples, but you have too many run-on sentences. Like on the first sentence, you should divide it in half, because it is too long and it is confusing. Also the same thing for the examples, like when you mentioned Sound Effects, then you showed the examples, all in one sentence. Anyone else who reads it might think it is in the same situation when it is actually not.
